The Line: Northern Iowa Panthers -17 See the Latest Odds
The red hot Northern Iowa Panthers get set to host the Drake Bulldogs on Saturday night at the McLeod center in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
The Northern Iowa Panthers are playing some very good ball this season as the Panthers are 21-2 overall on the season, and in the Missouri Valley Conference, the Panthers are a strong 10-1. UNI is riding a ten game winning streak right now, with their last loss coming back on January 1st, against the Evansville Purple Aces. The Panthers definitely aren’t the flashiest team in the league, but they are a consistent shooting team that is always pressuring you to play your best defensively. The Panthers are currently ranked in the top 25 in both the AP and the USA Today polls.
USA TODAY Sports
The Drake Bulldogs are struggling this season as the Bulldogs are 7-16 overall on the year and in the MVC the Bulldogs are just 4-7 on the season. The Bulldogs have won three in a row heading into this meeting with the Panthers, and Drake will need all the momentum they can muster if they plan on upsetting a red hot Panthers team right now. The Bulldogs faced the Panthers earlier this season, and Drake got blown out against the Panthers, falling 64-40, so you know that has to be on their minds as the head into Cedar Falls on Saturday.
The Drake Bulldogs are 8-12-1 against the spread this season overall, and on the road, the Bulldogs are just 2-6 against the spread. The Panthers are 12-7-2 ATS on the year, and when the Panthers are at home, UNI is just 2-6-1 against the spread this season.
The Drake Bulldogs looked to be overmatched here, but this is a ton of points. These teams know each other very well, and even though UNI is clearly the better team, I don’t love their offense, and outscoring a rival by this many will be tough. I don’t love this game, but taking a side here I’ll take the points with the Bulldogs.
