The San Diego State Aztecs host the Wyoming Cowboys with first in the Mountain West at stake.
The defense first Wyoming Cowboys only average 62 points but are 19-5 and on the footstep of capturing the Mountain West behind a suffocating defense that allows only 54 points which ranks number four in the nation. Having said that the Cowboys didn't get much from either end of the floor in a 73-50 rout at Air Force on Saturday. The Cowboys were blasted 40-22 over the final 20 minutes with the Falcons burning the nets at 57% with Wyoming checking in at less then 35% which equated to a difference of eleven baskets. In many ways the San Diego Aztecs are a mirror image of Wyoming in that they sore almost 62 points and possess the number three defense in the land that gives up less then 54 points which has the team in second in the Mountain West while sporting an 18-6 record overall. The Aztecs defense wasn't enough to get the job done at Boise State in a 61-46 defeat on Sunday. This was decided early with the Broncos up 12 after 20 minutes and never taking their foot off the gas. BSU connected at 41% in contrast to the 35.7 shooting of SDSU with the Broncos sinking eight more threes and eleven more free throws. JJ O'Brien was the top offensive option for San Diego State with 16 points and ten rebounds followed by Winston Shepard with 12 points and six boards but nobody else scored more then six.
The Cowboys are 11-5-1 ATS in their last 17 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. Wyoming are 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. loss. The Aztecs are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. San Diego State are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. Mountain West and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. loss. With Larry Nance Jr. out I'll lay the points but I'm not sure I'd bet it...
