The North Carolina-Wilmington Seahawks look to stay in the hunt for first in the CAA with a win versus the Charleston Cougars.
The Charleston Cougars might need some good fortune to escape the Colonial basement but in all honesty they might be one of the better last place teams around with close losses to the good, bad and in between. So what happens after saying that? They get hammered 59-45 by Drexel Saturday as points remain at a premium. The Dragons jumped to 27-18 lead after 20 minutes and never looked back as they hit at around 49% to easily outdistance the 29% shooting Cougars who went 0-11 from long range which negated 12 more looks at the basket. Anthony Stitt was the top offensive option for CofC with 15 points on 6-10 from the floor. Joe Chealey followed with eleven points while Adjehi Baru and Cameron Johnson scored five points each with Baru posting six pulls.

The North Carolina-Wilmington Seahawks have been a non factor in the Colonial for quite some time but have emerged as a contender for the conference crown in 2014-15. The Seahawks stand at 8-4 which is good for third although this team does play up and down to their competition. UNCW went for the season sweep and first place against visiting William & Mary but couldn't find the shooting touch in Saturday's 56-53 defeat. The Tribe had no such problem on 50% marksmanship but the Seahawks were doomed on less then 29% from the field and a 3-19 performance from the perimeter. Craig Ponder led the Seahawks attack with 14 points on 5-13 from the field with Freddie Jackson tossing in 12. Jordan Talley and Addison Spruill combined for 17 points while Cedrick Williams cleaned the glass with ten rebounds.
The Cougars are 17-35-2 ATS in their last 54 games following a ATS loss and 19-43-1 ATS in their last 63 games overall. Charleston are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. The Seahawks are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall. UNC Wilmington are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 vs. Colonial Athletic Association and 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. The Seahawks could win by 20 and I wouldn't be surprised but both play a lot close games...
