The Marshall Thundering Herd look to throw a Monkey Wrench in to the postseason plans of the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers are second in the CUSA but their sights are on displacing first place Louisiana Tech but neither team has much room for error. The Hilltoppers have been charging hard with wins in eight of ten although a 72-68 loss to visiting Rice was unexpected with the Owls taking a 17 point lead after 20 minutes which they made hold up. WKY hit shots at 41.8% and stayed close to the 60% shooting Owls with 13 more looks at the basket. Trency Jackson paced the offense with 23 points and five yanks with TJ Price adding 17 points and five pulls. Chris Harrison-Docks netted 14 points followed by an eleven point, seven board effort by George Fant.

The Marshall Thundering Herd have had very little to cheer about until the past few weeks where they have risen from the ashes with wins in four of five which probably makes the teams on the schedule cringe. The offense has been clicking in this stretch and were at their best in a 80-73 victory against visiting North Texas. The Thundering Herd had a 47.5%-41% advantage in the shooting department and hit 9-25 from down town although this game was won (or lost) at the stripe with both combining for a 28-53 effort. Aleksa Nikolic paced a balance Marshall offense with 15 points while Jay Johnson and JP Kambola tossing in 14 points each with six and 14 rebounds respectively. Justin Edmonds was next in line with 13 points while Ryan Taylor and Austin Loop added 12 and eleven points.
The Hilltoppers are 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 games following a S.U. loss and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Saturday games. Western Kentucky are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 road games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. The Thundering Herd are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. Marshall are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Conference USA. The Hilltoppers are the better squad competing for the CUSA title so this line looks fishy...
