The Nevada Wolf Pack play host to the New Mexico Lobos in Mountain West action at the Lawlor Events Center.
I thought the New Mexico Lobos had a chance at breaking in to the top four of the Mountain West but I'm singing a different tune now as the team is in the midst of a three game slide. I now think the Lobos are jockeying for playoff position with an eye on one of the postseason tournaments. After a pair of defeats by a grand total of seven points, UNM was pushed around a bit in a 0-59 loss at Colorado State on Tuesday. The Rams jumped to a 16 point lead after 20 minutes and were never in danger despite less then 36% accuracy because the 39.7% shooting Lobos were outscored at the stripe 22-9. Deshawn Delaney carried the offense with a game high 21 points and six pulls while Xavier Adams tossed in eleven points. Hugh Greenwood added eight points and hauled in a game high ten rebounds but theteam needed more scoring options.

The Nevada Wolf Pack haven't had enough scoring punch in the the conference and the defense hasn't been able to win on their own merits with the result being a next to last spot in the standings. The Wolf Pack have dropped eight of ten following a 75-62 defeat at Utah State on Tuesday where neither end of the floor had success. USU led by nine at the intermission behind nearly 60% marksmanship including a 9-16 effort from beyond the arc while the Wolf Pack sank shots at 41% which negated 14 more looks at the basket. Eric Cooper Jr. was Nevada's best offensive option with 14 points on 5-11 from the floor followed by Tyron Criswell with 12 points. AJ West added ten points and and seven rebounds while Marqueze Coleman netted nine points and posted seven helpers.
The Lobos are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400 and 13-3 ATS in their last 16 Saturday games. New Mexico are 13-4 ATS in their last 17 road games and 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. The Wolf Pack are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a losing road record while going 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games following a ATS loss. New Mexico is fading but need this one to save their season...
