The Citadel Bulldogs Collide with the Virginia Military Keydets at the McAlister Field House in SoCon action.
The Virginia Military Keydets first season in the Southern has been one for the scrapbooks with a 9-16 record with no shot at winning the conference. The Keydets philosophy hasn't changed as they try to blow up the scoreboard each night at 80 points while hoping the defense gets a few stops to win. The Keydets snapped a three game skid with a rare productive night at both ends of the floor in a 93-59 rout of visiting Furman Thursday. Furman still shot the ball wellat 48% but VMI connected at 53% and were a laughable 24-45 on threes. The duo of Brian Brown and Tim Marshall poured in 29 and 25 points and were a combined 16-29 from distance. Jordan Weethee and Julian Eleby added nine points apiece and another five long balls as VMI rained down the perimeter shots.

The Citadel Bulldogs are in the same boat as their counterparts in that the Southern crown has been out of reach for quite awhile. Neither end of the floor has been consistent during a six game slide that was finally ended in Thursday's 66-65 road win versus Samford. Samford sank shots at a solid 46% with the Citadel nailing half their looks and connecting on a season best 10-15 from beyond the arc. Jake Wright led all scorers with 20 points with a 6-9 effort from the perimeter with Ashton Moore adding 17 points and six assists but turning the ball over eight times. PJ Horgan and Brian White followed with eleven points apiece with White leading the team with seven rebounds. The key was Samford did not take advantage of 16 Citadel giveaways.
The Keydets are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 road games following three or more consecutive home games and 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS win. VMI are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring more than 90 points in their previous game and 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win. The Bulldogs are 14-6 ATS in their last 20 games following a S.U. win and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. The Citadel are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. These aren't two teams that give bettors an abundance of confidence but I will say the Keydets might win if the threes fall...
