The Cal Poly Mustangs hope to move up the Big West standings with a win at Cal State Northridge.
If the Cal Poly Mustangs are gong to make a move in the conference the time is now as the team shoots for their third consecutive victory. The defense first received some help from the scoring as well in Saturday's 71-58 win against visiting Long Beach State in which CP seemed to take the lead and never give the 49ers any breathing room. LBSU was limited to 40% shooting while the Mustangs connected at 47% while nailing 12-27 from long range. Joel Awich led four double digit scorers with 19 points and seven boards with Reese Morgan right on his heels with 18 points. Ridge Shipley followed with a 14 point effort while Brian Bennett added ten points and nine rebounds. Altogether the entire seven man rotation scored.

The Cal State Fullerton Titans haven't had a season for the scrapbooks with struggles putting the ball in the basket while opponents have had great success in scoring which tells us something about their record. The Titans have dropped three in a row following an 81-61 rout at Hawaii on Saturday. CSF fought the Warriors even for a half before UH took off on a 41-23 second half run as they sank 50% of their looks. The Titans responded with 35.7% marksmanship which fell well short. Lanneryl Johnson was the best offensive option with a contest high 23 points on 8-19 shooting with Josh Gentry tossing in ten points. Jordan Mason and Steve McClellan each netted nine points with McClellan hauling in a game high ten rebounds.
The Mustangs are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. win and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. Cal Polyare 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. The Titans are 16-33-2 ATS in their last 51 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 18-40-2 ATS in their last 60 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Fullerton are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 vs. Big West and 4-10-2 ATS in their last 16 games overall. Going on what I feel is a must win for Cal Poly I'll lay the chalk and we'll see what they are made of...
