The Furman Paladins shoot for the season sweep of the Citadel Bulldogs at Timmons Arena Thursday.
The list of things to do for the Citadel Bulldogs is to get hot with the season winding down and avoid finishing in the SoCon basement. Getting hot has been a problem with defeats eight of ten where both ends of the floor struggling and that trand was evident in Sumday's 84-69 loss to visiting VMI. The Bulldogs played well through the early stages of the secon half where the Keydets went on a 52-33 run to pull away. The Bulldogs won the shooting battle 47%-43% but 12 giveaways and 14 VMI offensive rebounds gave the visitors 22 more looks at the basket and eight more field goals including 15 bombs. The Bulldogs received 19 points and six helpers from Ashton Moore with Quinton Marshall tossing in 14. Jake Wright and Brian White added 12 and ten points with PJ Horgan netting nine points while White and Horgan posted six boards apiece.

The Furman Paladins are last in the Southern with a lack of punch at both ends of the floor doing them in. On the year the Paladins have been outscored 70-65 which are numbers that just won't work consistently and readily explains their 7-18 record. The Paladins are in the middle of a five game slide capped off by a hard fought 66-59 defeat at East Tennessee State where the visitors fell behind by eight at the break and refused to go away. The Buccaneers connected at nearly 49% with the visitors hitting at around 39% which equaled four more buckets in a close contest otherwise. Devin Sibley poured in 29 points and handed out five assists to keep Furman close while Kris Acox added 14 points and hauled in a game high 17 rebounds. Stephen Croone was next in line with seven points but was 1-11 shooting.
The Bulldogs are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games. The Citadel are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. The Paladins are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 home games and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. loss. Furman are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 37-17 ATS in their last 54 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. In what world is Furman such a favorite...a crazy one...
