Times Union Center and the Siena Saints brace for a visit from MAAC rival the Canisius Golden Griffins.
An end of season slump has taken the Canisius Golden Griffins from a contender in the top four to a middle of the row team. The Golden Griffins had dropped four in a row with up and down performances at both ends of the floor before finally getting their act together in Sunday's 69-55 rout of Saint Peter's. The Peacocks found themselves behind 33-18 after 20 minutes and were unable to cut in to the deficit with just 36% marksmanship. On the flip side, Canisius sank half their looks including 19-24 at the foul line. Jeremiah Williams led all scorers with 22 points on 7-9 shooting followed by a 15 point, ten rebound effort from Josiah Heath. Kevin Bleeker added ten points and six boards while Kassius Robertson chipped in with eight points.

I yuo follow the MAAC and Siena in particular you are well aware that this team has fallen off the map after a strong postseason a year ago. Injuries have certainly had a hand in the struggles but the team hasn't played well especially at the defensive end where 75 points are allowed. Neither end of the floor did well in Sunday's 83-64 defeat at the hands of visiting Monmouth where a 49-33 second half run broke open a competitive contest. The Hawks burned the nets with 53% marksmanship with the Saints countering with 39% including a 3-17 mark from beyond the arc. Evan Hymes led four double digit scorers with 13 points with Marquis Wright adding 12 points and five pulls. Javion Ogunyemi and Rob Poole combined for 21 points with each snagging five boards but this loss probably belonged to the defense.
The Golden Griffins are 13-4 ATS in their last 17 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 22-8-2 ATS in their last 32 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. Canisius are 13-5 ATS in their last 18 road games and 17-8 ATS in their last 25 games following a S.U. win. The Saints are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games following a ATS loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games while going 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games following a S.U. loss. I have sworn off Siena for awhile and I'm still holding a grudge...
