The Central Florida Knights shoot for the season sweep of the Tulane Green Wave at Devlin Fieldhouse.
The Central Florida Knights are struggling among the bottom half of the AAC with the main goal being to get hot in the final weeks and head in to the postseason with a full head of steam. It's been so far, so good in that regard with the Knights earning consecutive victories by downing Houston 56-54 Sunday behind 49% marksmanship and a 5-1 edge at the line ti barely squeeze by the 43% shooting Cougars who put nine more looks at the basket to good use. Staphon Blair and Brandon Goodwin scored 14 points each with Goodwin posting seven helpers followed by a 13 point, six pull effort from Kasey Wilson. Six players scored overall and four hit at 50% or better.

The name of the game for the Tulane Green Wave is to slow the pace as much as possible and avoid track meets for which they are not suited. The Green Wave had hopes of challenging the top four of the conference before a five game skid ended those thoughts but Tulane put an end to the losing streak with a surprising 50-49 victory at Cincinnati as a 10.5 point favorite on Saturday. The Bearcats held a clear 44%-34.6% shooting advantage an forced 15 turnovers but the visitors owned a 6-0 edge on threes which I consider to be decisive. Jay Hook led the Geen Wave offense with a game high 18 points while grabbing eight rebounds followed by Jonathan Stark with nine points and six pulls. Dylan Osetkowski and Payton Henson scored seven points each but the team struggled to make shots.
The Knights are 16-33-3 ATS in their last 52 games following a ATS loss and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. win. Central Florida are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Green Wave are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games after allowing less than 50 points in their previous game. Tulane are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 vs. American Athletic Conference. This is what I call the ugly duckling...
