The Green Bay Phoenix improved to 21-6 (10-3 Horizon) on the season after defeating the Detroit Titans, 96-76, this past Wednesday. Green Bay shot 55.4% from the field and 42.9% (6-14) from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Phoenix was Greg Mays who had 34 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 block. Green Bay is ranked 54th in the RPI Standings and has played the 172nd ranked SOS. On the season, the Phoenix have been led by Keifer Sykes (17.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 4.1 apg) and Greg Mays (12.1 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.4 bpg). The Vikings are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 road games. The Phoenix are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games however, just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
This should be a great game as both teams need the win to stay on the heels of Valparaiso who sits in the first place in the Horizon, one game above both Cleveland State and Green Bay. Cleveland State played some tough competition early in the season (@ Iona, @ Louisville, @ Virginia) which I feel is paying off for them now as they have seem to find their stride in conference play winning 6 of their last 8 games. Green Bay has one of the best defensives in the Horizon and has the likely Horizon player of the year in Keifer Sykes leading the charge. This should be a great game, however, I like the well-balanced starting five of Cleveland State to keep this a close game and although I feel the Vikings might fall just short of the victory, I think they'll keep it within the number. Take Cleveland State and the points.
