The San Diego State Aztecs hope to stay on a roll when they visit the Event Center Arena to face the San Jose State Spartans.
The San Diego State Aztecs have cracked the top 25 although there can be no resting on their laurels with first place in the Mountain West still up for grabs. The Aztecs have won three in a row after a 63-46 rout of New Mexico Tuesday as a 15 point bulge heading to the locker room easily holding up the rest of the way. The rugged SDSU defense limited the Lobos to a mere 31% from the floor to make their own 47% marksmanship and 7-15 effort on threes an easy winner. Aqeel Quinn poured in a game high 20 points on 8-15 shooting including four bombs. Malik Pope tossed in 16 points on 6-10 with JJ O'Brien chipping in with eight points and Skylar Spencer hauling in eleven rebounds.

The goals for the San Jose Spartans at this point in the season is to get a conference win because nobody wants to have a goose egg at the end of the year in the win column. The 2-23 Spartans simply struggle to score and defend which was a trend that continued in Wednesday's 76-54 loss to visiting Utah State. The Aggies jumped to a 13 point lead at the break and kept the pressure on until the final buzzer behind 54% accuracy. The Spartans never found the shooting touch with 34% marksmanship with the difference being eight more buckets. Jaleel Williams gave the offense 20 points on 8-15 from the floor followed by a 12 point, six pull and five assist effort from Rashad Muhammad. Darryl Gaynor II and Isaac Thornton scored nine points apiece with Thornton grabbing seven rebounds.
The Aztecs are 25-12-1 ATS in their last 38 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. The Spartans are 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 Saturday games and 15-34-2 ATS in their last 51 games following a SU loss of more than 20 points. San Jose State are 18-43-3 ATS in their last 64 games overall and 17-41-2 ATS in their last 60 home games. My feeling is San Diego State can take this as far as they want so they cover if they press the issue or just win big...
