The Northern Illinois Huskies travel to Savage Hall looking to slow down the Toledo Rockets on Tuesday.
The Northern Illinois Huskies have played more then their share of close contests with many going in the loss column so we could argue this team is better then their record. I am sure that nobody will take this team lightly once the conference playoffs begin. However the bottom line is the Huskies have dropped four of five after a 73-65 defeat at the hands of Eastern Michigan on Saturday. The Eagles took control early with a 16 point lead that was enough to withstand a late NIU rally. The Huskies won the shooting battle 41%-31.6% but EMU forced 16 turnovers and mustered eight more looks and five more free throws. The Huskies received 23 points on 7-13 shooting from Anthony Johnson with Jordan Threloff adding ten points and five yanks. Chuks Iroegbu and Aaron Armstead tossed in seven points apiece as the offense was balanced but not explosive.

With the season nearing an end the Toledo Rockets are trying to unseat Central Michigan for the MAC West lead. The Rockets have won eight of ten with both losses coming by a combined five points. The Rockets are coming off of consecutive wins after outscoring Western Michigan 97-87 on the road Saturday. The Broncos shot the ball well enough at 49% but couldn't match the Rockets blistering 60% accuracy which accounted for six more baskets. Julius Brown led five double digit scorers with 19 points and six assists with JD Weatherspoon and Justin Drummond netting 17 and 16 points and grabbing eleven boards. Nathan Boothe added 15 points and five yanks while Jonathan Williams scored 12 points with the remainder of the team contributing 18 points.
The Huskies are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss and 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. Northern Illinois are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Rockets are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 vs. Mid-American. Toledo are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. win and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win. The Huskies have generally kept things close this year so I'm tempted by the points but I don't care to bet them...
