The Samford Bulldogs end the season on the road with the Virginia Military Keydets on Saturday.
The Samford Bulldogs will be ending the season in next to last in the SoCon regardless of whether they win or loss. A four game slide slide has sealed their fate but the real issue has been struggles at both ends of the floor. Those issues were obvious in Thursday's 81-67 defeat at North Carolina-Greensboro that was a three game deficit until late when the Spartans pulled away with 50% shooting and nine more looks overcoming the 44% marksmanship of the Bulldogs. Christen Cunningham was the go to scorer with 19 points and five yanks while Marcus Johnson and Tyler Hood tossed in eleven points apiece. Brandon Roberts and Michael Bradley combined for 16 points but the team needed more explosiveness with the D giving up points.

The Virginia Military Keydets have been warming up the past few weeks and when this team is warming up that means they are scoring plenty of points with the sky raining threes. The Keydets were gunning for win number four in a row versus visiting Chattanooga on Thursday but never quite got over the hump in 86-82 overtime defeat. The Mocs were clearly the better shooting squad at 47%-39.7% which usually is no problem the way VMI shoots threes but the threes only fell at 6-24. The Keydets stayed close at the charity stripe instead with a 22-12 advantage. Phillip Anglade and Julian Eleby were an explosive tandem with a combine 51 points with five and nine rebounds respectively. Brian Brown and Trey Chapman scored ten points each but the offense was Anglade and Eleby and everybody else.
The Bulldogs are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 23-6 ATS in their last 29 Saturday games. Samford are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 vs. Southern. The Keydets are 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 Saturday games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS win. VMI are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 vs. Southern. I like the way the Keydets are playing and I wouldn't want to face them...
