The #25 Providence Friars look to break the dominance of the Marquette Golden Eagles at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
For fans of the Marquette Golden Eagles the fall from grace this season has been fast and hard and with three games remaining on the schedule is the fall over yet? The Golden Eagles could sweep the rest of the slate and win a few games in the conference playoffs to perhaps grab a spot in the CBI or CIT they have to reverse some serious losing. The losing streak reached four games in Wednesday's 73-52 defeat at Butler as an 8.5 point underdog. The Bulldogs only held a 51%-50% shooting edge but 13 more shots turned into seven more baskets. Marquette received 17 points on 7-8 shooting from Luke Fischer while JaJuan Johnson and Matt Carlino dropped ten points apiece. Steve Taylor Jr. chipped in with eight points but the offense needed more players to step up.

The Providence Friars are in need of a strong finish to the regular season if they expect to stay in the top 25 an hold on to 4th in the Big East. The Friars further need to break out of their mini funk where they are just 2-3 following an 89-61 defeat at the hands of Villanova on the road. The Wildcats had their way at both ends of the floor as a nine point lead going to the locker room quickly got out hand behind 53% shooting including a 13-26 display from beyond the arc and 20 more free throws. Providence connected at a respectable 45% but were just 3-10 on threes and didn't get to the foul line enough. Tyler Harris was the best option on offense with 18 points on 8-11 from the floor while Kyron Cartwright and LaDontae Henton scored 12 points apiece. The issue was a lack of explosiveness from the team overall.
The Golden Eagles are 10-27-1 ATS in their last 38 vs. Big East and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss. Marquette are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. loss and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. The Friars are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Providence are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 Sunday games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss. Marquette has had tremendous success in this match up but can't win to save their life right now. I'm still tempted to just take the points...
