The schedule has obviously been too tough for the Ball State Cardinals and their 7-22 record says as much with a 2-16 record in the MAC being even worse. The numbers aren’t completely awful with the team getting outscored 68-65 so I am a bit surprised this team didn’t win a few more games instead of owning a 16 game losing streak.
The offense has potential with Sean Sellers leading the team in scoring at 12 points with Franko House next in line with ten points on over 50% marksmanship. Bo Calhoun, Bo Tyler and Matt Kamieniecki are all 8-9 point scorers so this team can put up some impressive numbers when most are on the same page which has happened times.
The Bowling Green Falcons were a defense first squad that outscored opponents 66-61 although the defense had some issues over the last three weeks of the regular season. The Falcons were 11-7 in the conference and 19-10 overall with a 2-4 season ending run costing the team a 20 win campaign and a legitimate shot at winning the conference crown.
Bowling Green doesn’t light the scoreboard but have shown the ability to do so with their slower style of attack not conducive to track meet types of games. Richaun Holmes is the undisputed team leader at nearly 15 points and eight rebounds on 55.7% shooting and would easily score more in a faster style of play. Four others contribute between eight and nearly ten points to give the offense five different double digit scorers on any given night.
The Cardinals are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following a ATS loss. Ball State are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 3-12 ATS in their last 15 games following a S.U. loss. The Falcons are 6-1-2 ATS in their last 9 games following a S.U. loss and 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. BGSU are 7-2-2 ATS in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 games following a ATS win. I’m going with the better team and hoping they right the ship if Holmes plays…
