The UCLA Bruins have take a beating from the experts in the media in regards to them not being NCAA worthy. However the Bruins seem to be worthy enough after crushing Alabama-Birmingham in the Field of 32 by a 92-75 count. UCLA jumped to a nine point lead at the break and never let up until the final buzzer. The Blazers hit shots at a so, so 44% and were 12-26 on threes but ware overwhelmed by the Bruins 60% marksmanship and 17-5 advantage at the stripe. Tony Parker was a force with a game high 28 points and 12 rebounds on 11-14 from the field while Bryce Alford added 22 points and five assists. Norman Powell and Isaac Hamilton netted 15 and 13 points followed by a ten point, eleven rebound effort from Kevon Looney.
The Gonzaga Bulldogs were easily the king of the West Coast once again although the conference didn’t seem to be as strong as we’ve been accustomed to seeing which made their ten point win against North Dakota State in the opening round of the NCAA tournament tough to gage. However the 87-68 rout of Iowa in round number two should have told us this is a very good team. The Hawkeyes were done by the half as they trailed by 17 and were never a factor despite decent 46.7% shooting. That’s because the Zags fired away at 61.5% and were 10-16 from long range while sinking six more free throws. Kyle Wiltjer poured in a contest high 24 points and seven boards on 10-12 from the floor with Domantas Sabonis adding 18 points and nine rebounds. Kevin Pangos was next in line with 16 points while Gary Bell Jr. and Przemek Karnowski combined for 19 points.
The Bruins are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall. UCLA are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 neutral site games and 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS win. The Bulldogs are 19-7-2 ATS in their last 28 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. win. Gonzaga are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 vs. Pacific-12 and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS win. If both teams play their best then I would side with Gonzaga who has points coming from everywhere…
