The Old Dominion Monarchs and the Stanford Cardinal square off in the NIT semifinals at MSG.
Putting the ball in the basket has been a strength for the Stanford Cardinal throughout 2014-15 and it has been thus far in the NIT. The Cardinal picked up a 78-75 victory against visiting Vanderbilt in the quarterfinals as they made a five point lead at the half stand up. The Commodores hung tough despite 40% shooting thanks to a 12-25 effort from beyond the arc and a 17-21 mark at the line. In the end Stanford’s 47% marksmanship won out and overcame some missed free throws in the closing seconds. Anthony Brown was the offensive star with a contest high 26 points and eight rebounds on 9-15 from the floor with Chasson Randle next in line with 16 points. Stefan Nastic added 12 points and seven boards while Marcus Allen chipped in with nine points.

The Old Dominion Monarchs have relied heavily on their number ten defense to be successful this season although their offense had a hand in a 72-69 quarterfinal victory against Murray State with a three pointer at the buzzer winning it. The Racers never found the shooting touch at 37.7% but stayed competitive by turning 23 Monarchs fouls in to a 24-9 advantage at the charity stripe. ODU burned the nets at almost 54% marksmanship which added up to eight more baskets which was decisive. Trey Freeman saved Old Dominion as he poured in a game high 25 points on 11-21 from the floor followed by a 12 point, six board effort from Jonathan Arledge. Jordan Baker netted eleven points with Ambrose Mosley and Aaron Bacote combining for another 15 points.
The Cardinal are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. win. Stanford are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. The Monarchs are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS win and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. win. Old Dominion are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 non-conference games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall. I have watched this line for awhile and the world is on Stanford but the line has just gone up slightly so this a game I'll probably just watch...
