The Boise State Broncos and Montana Grizzlies open their season Friday at the Dahlberg Arena.
The Boise State Broncos look to build on last season’s success in which they won 25 games. Anthony Drmic will lead Boise State after averaging 15 points and five rebounds while James Webb III averaged 11.2 points and eight rebounds. Nick Duncan grabbed 3.5 rebounds and Mikey Thompson shot 31.1 percent from deep. The Boise State Broncos lost Derrick Marks but do return majority of a team that shot 45.6 percent from the field and 39.2 percent from beyond the arc. Boise State also allowed just 60.1 points and held teams to 30.9 percent shooting from downtown. The Boise State Broncos are a team that can make a lot of noise once again this season and may be the team to beat the MWC.

The Montana Grizzlies won 20 games last season and enter the second year under Travis DeCuire. Martin Breunig will lead the Grizz after averaging 16.7 points and 7.3 rebounds while Brandon Gfeller averaged 8.9 points and 2.8 rebounds. Mario Dunn dished 3.8 assists and Fabijan Krslovic grabbed 4.7 rebounds. The Montana Grizzlies were also a great offensive team last season, which included 46.4 percent from the field and 37.2 percent from downtown. Defensively, Montana allowed 43.6 percent shooting from the field. While Montana did lose its top player in Jordan Gregory, the Grizzlies still have enough to make a strong run in the Big Sky.
The Broncos are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games and 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games overall. The Grizzlies are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
Both of these teams can fill it up offensively. While Boise State may have the better athletes, I there's value with the free points with Montana at home. I'm siding with the Grizzlies here.
