The Drake Bulldogs will travel to Devlin Fieldhouse to take on the Tulane Green Wave this Monday night in College Basketball action.
The Drake Bulldogs had no issues against the D-III Simpson Storm and improved to 1-0 (0-0 MVC) on the season after a convincing 97-52 victory. Drake were all over Simpson from the start of the game and had a 50-18 lead by halftime. The Bulldogs shot an impressive 69.8% from the field and 50.0% (6-12) from beyond the arc. Defensively, Drake was able to hold Simpson to just 29.2% shooting and outrebound the Storm by a 49-26 margin. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Reed Timmer who had 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Also contributing for the Bulldogs was Dominik Olejniczak (8 points, 12 rebounds) and C.J. Rivers (9 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals). Drake had a tough 2014-15 season finishing the year with a 9-22 (6-12 MVC) record and really had trouble on both sides of the court as they averaged just 59.5 ppg (ranked 328th) and had a rebound margin of -3.2 (ranked 295th). The Bulldogs should see some improvement some season however, probably still a year or two away from being contenders in the tough MVC.

The Tulane Green Wave fell to 0-1 (0-0 American) on the season after lost a tight 68-67 OT game against the Alabama A&M Bulldogs this past Friday. Tulane had trouble scoring the ball early as they only had 19 points at halftime and unfortunately went 0-4 from the field with 3 turnovers in OT in the loss. Tulane ended the game shooting just 38.6% from the field and 25.9% (7-27) from beyond the arc. The Green Wave outrebounded the Bulldogs by a 48-37 margin however, did commit 19 turnovers in the loss. Leading the way for Tulane was Dylan Osetkowski who had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Also chipping in for the Green Wave was Jernard Jarreau (16 points, 7 rebounds) and Kain Harris (13 points, 2 rebounds). Tulane will be counting on transfers Malik Morgan and Jernard Jarreau to be big contributors on a team that struggled down the stretch last year losing 11 of their final 13 games.
The Bulldogs are 9-4-2 ATS in their last 15 games overall however, are 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games. The Green Wave are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Monday games however just 1-10 ATS in their last 11 home games.
The Drake Bulldogs didn’t get much of a test in their opening matchup against Simpson and I think their lack of depth down in the post is going to be exposed a bit more by Dylan Osetkowski and Jernard Jarreau. Tulane had a decent defense last year holding teams to just 64.0 ppg and as long as they make sure they get out on the Drake three-point shooters, I think they’ll be able to control this game and cover this spread at home. Take Tulane to cover.
