The Niagara Purple Eagles look for their first win when the Brown Bears visit on Wednesday.
The Ivy League is supposed to be a little more open then in previous seasons with several new faces taking over. The Brown Bears are not one of those teams and need to prove otherwise. The Bears looked good at both ends of the floor in their season opening 71-55 victory versus Holy Cross. The boxscore says the Crusaders were in over their heads with 31% shooting and a 3-22 effort from distance while Brown sank shots at nearly a 52% clip which added up to a decisive 13 more field goals. JR Hobbie paced the offense with 16 points with Cedrick Kuakumensah tossing in 14 points and hauling in 12 rebounds. Corey Daugherty was next in line with 13 points followed by an eleven point, 14 board night from Steven Spieth.
USA TODAY Sports
The Niagara Purple Eagles fell to 0-2 on the season following a 73-62 defeat at St Joseph’s as a 16 point favorite. The Purple Eagles defended reasonably well with the Hawks hitting at 44% but their own 30% accuracy and 16 turnovers did them in. Matt Scott was Niagara’s top offensive threat with 14 points and eight rebounds despite 3-12 shooting while Justin Satchell added 13 points and six pulls on 5-9 from the field. Marvin Prochet contributed nine points and six yanks on 4-8 with Chris Barton chipping in with eight points. Only two players approached 50% shooting which was the difference.
The over is 13-3-1 in Brown’s last 17 road games and is 21-6 in their last 27 overall. The under is 8-0 in Niagara’s last 8 non-conference games and is 9-3-1 in their last 13 home games while the over is 11-4 in their last 15 Wednesday games. I really see no advantage to exploit and this does not look like a great wagering opportunity…
