The Loyola (CHI) Ramblers dropped to 2-1 (0-0 MVC) on the season after being defeated by the New Mexico Lobos 75-51 this past Wednesday. The Ramblers were unable to overcome a slow start as they only scored 19 points in the 1st half and found themselves down by 19 at halftime. Loyola (CHI) shot 31.7% from the field and just 29.4% (5-17) from beyond the arc in the loss. The Ramblers allowed New Mexico to shoot 61.7% from the field and was outrebounded by the Lobos by a 38-25 margin. Leading the way for Loyola (CHI) was Devon Turk who scored 11 points in the loss. On the season, Loyola (CHI) have been led by Milton Doyle (13.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 3.3 apg), Devon Turk (12.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg), and Montel James (10.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg). Defensively, the Ramblers are holding their opponents to 43.9% shooting from the field and have a turnover margin of plus 4.0.
The Rockets are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. MVC opponents and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 road games. The Ramblers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss.
The Toledo Rockets have gotten off to a nice start of the season but it will still be difficult as the season goes on to replace their top three scorers from last season in Julius Brown (16.3 ppg), Justin Drummond (13.1 ppg, 4.6 rpg), and J.D. Weatherspoon (12.9 ppg). Loyola (CHI) is an experienced team as outside of Christian Thomas (11.2 pg, 4.5 rpg), they basically return the same team including Milton Doyle who could easily be on the MVC All-Conference Team at the end of the season. Toledo has had a nice start to the season but they are a young team that has yet to face much of a challenge. Loyola (CHI) is experienced and has the best player on the court, and as I think line is a bit in their favor due to their poor performance at New Mexico, I think Loyola (CHI) comes out to play in front of their home crowd and covers this small spread.
