The Temple Owls have a tall order in taking down the #16 Utah Utes on Sunday afternoon.
The Temple Owls have had a brutal schedule in the early going which is why the team stands at 1-2 after three games. The Owls gave the Butler Bulldogs a battle before falling 74-69 as an eight point underdog. Temple was solid defensively with the Bulldogs hitting at 36% but were just 38% from the floor so they didn’t benefit. This game was decided a the charity stripe with Butler holding a 21-8 advantage. The Utah Utes have been clicking offensively in building a 3-0 record before nothing went right in a 90-66 loss to Miami. The Hurricanes were at the top of their game in building a 16 point lead heading in to the locker room while never letting up over the final 20 minutes. The Canes connected at 53% while the Utes sank half their looks but the Hurricanes hit 9-17 from long range and sank nine more free throws while totaling ten more looks at the basket. Jordan Loveridge paced the Utah attack with 18 points on 6-8 shooting including four bombs while Jakob Poelti tossed in 16 points and snagged six boards. Lorenzo Bonam and Isaiah Wright combined for 17 points with eight players scoring overall.
Temple are 22-10-1 ATS in their last 33 Sunday games. The under is 20-7 in Utah last 27 neutral site games. Utah is the better squad and Temple will need to be at their best to compete and that still might not be enough. Probably not the best pick because I’m a Temple fan…
