The Weber State Wildcats take the hardwood with the Central Michigan Chippewas.
The Weber State Wildcats began the season with consecutive defeats before picking up a one sided 90-47 victory versus sub division Antelope Valley on Thursday. The Big Sky challengers led by 19 after 2o minutes and continued to press the issue until the final buzzer. The Antelopes never found the range with 32% shooting and were outrebounded 40-23. In contrast the Wildcats fired away at 57% which equaled 15 more field goals. Jeremy Senglin led all scorers with 16 points on 6-9 with Joel Bolomboy adding 15 points and ten rebounds followed by a 14 point, six board effort from Richaud Gittens.

The Central Michigan Chippewas are one of the favorites to capture the MAC but they haven’t faced any stiff competition in building a 2-0 record. The Chips are coming off of a 79-64 victory over sub division Alma College on Tuesday. CMU built a 12 point first half lead and coasted the rest of the way. The Scots were held to less then 37% from the field while Central Michigan connected at 46% so a few more baskets and free throws was the difference. Rayshawn Simmons was the offensive star with 18 points, five assists and eight boards while John Simons and Luke Meyer netting 16 points with Simons hauling in 16 rebounds. This might have been closer then most thought but this wasn’t really competitive.
The over is 7-2 in Weber State’s last 9 Monday games. Both teams are capable of winning their respective conferences but neither has been overly impressive in the early going or maybe we simply don’t know enough about these teams yet but I’ll take a chance with CMU…
