Villanova used a 27-5 run between the 1st and 2nd half to erase an early eight point lead and take control of the game. Villanova shot 40.3% from the field and only committed 7 turnovers in the victory. The Wildcats held Akron to 35.6% shooting from the field and outrebounded the Zips by a 44-38 margin. The Cardinal are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games following an ATS loss and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 neutral site games. The Wildcats are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. the Pac-12 and 45-17 ATS in their last 62 games following a S.U. win.
Stanford is currently in rebuilding mode after losing their top three players from last year’s team in Chasson Randle, Stefan Nastic, and Anthony Brown and although they were able to pick up a nice home win to defeat GB in overtime to kick off their season, the Cardinal have really struggled defensively in their last two losses against SMU and Saint Mary’s. Villanova has been outstanding to start to season as tthey are once again one of the most well-balanced teams on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Stanford has been scoring early in the season but I don’t think they’ll have a lot of offensive answers for the Wildcats defensive and as Villanova is currently shooting 46.0% on the season, I think they’ll will go another big run in this one and get enough points to cover this spread. Take Villanova to cover.
