The Colorado State Rams are trying to garner some national recognition and it won’t be long if they continue to win. The Rams improved to 4-0 with a 90-74 thrashing of Portland where the lead was eight at the break and kept expanding. CSU limited the Pilots to less then 36% from the field and 12-40 on threes while burning the nets at 53% including 10-17 from distance. Texas-El Paso is labeled as a team to watch and my guess is there are a few eyes on them as they are 4-0 after knocking off Southern Illinois 71-66. The knock is the schedule hasn’t been overwhelming but it will definitely get tougher. The Salukis are probably thinking the Miners are tough enough after being held to40% shooting and 5-22 from the perimeter. UTEP sank shots at 43% but won it at the stripe with a 24-9 advantage although a 24-38 mark at the stripe is borderline awful. Hooper Vint led the Miners offense with 18 points and nine rebounds with Terry Winn adding 15 points and ten boards. Lee Moore and Earvin Morris Jr. netted 12 points apiece and Dominic Artis chipped in with nine.
Colorado State are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 Saturday games. The under is 12-3 in UTEP’s last 15 non-conference game and is 8-2 in UTEP last 10 neutral site games. I think the Rams are the better squad but not by much so I’ll grab the points…
