The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos pay a visit to the Arizona State Sun Devils Sunday.
The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos are penciled in as a challenger in the Big West but they have not been overly impressive in building a 2-2 record. The Gauchos are coming off of a 68-61 win against San Francisco where they led by 25 heading to the locker room before doing just enough to hold off the Dons second half charge. Both teams sank shots in the 42% range but SF turned the ball over 13 times and the Gauchos totaled nine more shots and four more baskets. Gabe Vincent paced the Gauchos with 18 points on 7-16 shooting with Michael Bryson adding 15 points and eight rebounds. Mitch Brewe tossed in 12 points while John Greene added nine points and six boards.

The Arizona State Sun Devils are picked to be somewhere in the middle of the PAC 12 but they do have four returning starters. The Sun Devils saw a three game winning streak end in a 78-73, overtime loss to Marquette. Marquette held a 42%-37.7% shooting advantage but 13 offensive rebounds contributed to 12 more Arizona State looks that kept the game closer then one would think. Tra Holder gave the Sun Devils 15 points with Gerry Blakes tossing in 13 points before fouling out after 37 minutes. Willie Atwood was next in line with eleven points and ten rebounds while Obinna Oleka added ten points and 14 boards.
The under is 8-3-1 in UCSB last 12 road games and UCSB are 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall. Santa Barbara is supposed to be one of the best teams in the Big West but my concern here is at least staying competitive in the paint which is a weak point in my view…
