The Line: Iowa Hawkeyes -4.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The #20 Wichita State Shockers take the floor with the Iowa Hawkeyes Sunday night.
It’s obvious this year’s version of the Wichita State Shockers is not as good as in previous seasons at 2-3. The Shockers have dropped consecutive contests following a 64-60 defeat at the hands of Alabama. The Crimson Tide held a 40.5%-31% shooting advantage but the Shockers grabbed 16 offensive rebounds to total 19 more shots but their poor shooting still did them in. Ron Baker led the Shockers offense with 15 points on 6-12 shooting followed by a 14 point, seven rebound effort by Markis McDuffie on 5-9 from the floor while Evan Wessel and Ty Taylor II combined for 17 points.

The Iowa Hawkeyes began the season 3-0 before back to back defeats have the team staring at a 3-2 record. The Hawkeyes fell to Notre Dame 68-62 Friday as they trailed by 12 points after 20 minutes and simply couldn’t make up the ground in the second half. The Fighting Irish shot the ball better at 45.5%-38% which was a big difference because it meant a few more baskets that combined with a few more free throws. Jarrod Uthoff poured in a game high 20 points and snared eight boards on 8-16 while Mike Gesell and Adam Woodbury netted 14 points apiece with Woodbury hauling in ten rebounds while Gesell logged nine assists.
The over is 14-6 in Wichita State’s last 20 Sunday games and is 9-4 in their last 13 non-conference games. The under is 8-2 in Iowa’s last 10 neutral site games and the over is 7-2 in their last 9 Sunday games. The Shockers are a good team but don’t look special to me right now but I’m not sure about giving them a few baskets…
