The Western Carolina Catamounts dropped to 2-3 (0-0 SoCon) on the season after being defeated, 57-56, by the Charleson Cougars this past Friday. Western Carolina had the lead late in this one but allowed Marquise Pointer of Charleson to hit a couple of big three-pointers and couldn’t hold on for the victory. South Carolina vs. Western Carolina - 11/30/15 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The South Carolina Gamecocks remained an undefeated 6-0 (0-0 SEC) on the season after defeating the Lipscomb Bisons, 92-76, this past Friday. South Carolina used a 9-0 run in the first half en route to a 51-40 halftime lead and never let Lipscomb get within 7 points in the first half. South Carolina shot 51.5% from the field and 70.4% (19-27) from the FT Line. The Gamecocks allowed the Bisons to shoot 39.7% from the field and outrebounded Lipscomb by a 43-29 margin. Leading the way for South Carolina was Laimonas Chatkevicius who went a perfect 7 for 7 from the field for 17 points and 3 rebounds. On the season, the Gamecocks have been led by Laimonas Chatkevicius (16.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg), Mindaugas Kacinas (14.5 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.3 apg), and Sindarius Thornwell (11.2 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 4.3 apg). Offensively, South Carolina is averaging 85.5 ppg on 45.8% shooting. The Gamecocks average 15.3 assists per game and are shooting 38.8% from beyond the arc. Defensively, South Carolina is allowing their opponents to average 71.8 ppg on 41.4% shooting. The Gamecocks have a rebound margin of 12.0 and a turnover margin of 3.8.

The Catamounts are 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 Monday games and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games. The Gamecocks are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall.

Western Carolina lost their leading scorers from last year in James Sinclair and will need to rely on both Mike Brown and Torrion Brummitt to carry the workload for the Catamounts this season. South Carolina has gotten off to a fantastic start to their 2015-16 season as they’ve been great in all areas of the game, especially when it comes to rebounding and turnovers. South Carolina hasn’t played the toughest schedule to date but did beat a very good Tulsa team and I think they are just too well-rounded team for Western Carolina to stand any chance is this one. I’m taking South Carolina to cover this spread in this one.
