The Charleston Cougars visit former SoCon rival the Citadel Bulldogs on Saturday.
The Charleston Cougars are picked to finish near the bottom of the Colonial although their 5-2 start says they are not that bad. The Cougars have won back to back contests after knocking off LSU 70-58 as they took a 22 point lead after 20 minutes before hanging on in the second half. COFC held a 39%-31% shooting edge which added up to six more field goals. The Cougars received 19 points from Canyon Barry with Terrance O’Donohue adding 13 points and six boards. Marquise Pointer netted 12 points and grabbed another six boards while Peyton Hulsey chipped in nine points.

The Citadel Bulldogs are hoping to be a factor in the SoCon and only time will tell how good or bad this team really is. The Bulldogs had won three in a row before a 97-93 loss at Air Force where the Falcons connected at 55% and sank 16 more free throws. The Bulldogs only sank shots at 43% but 14 more looks at the basket and an 18-50 effort on threes kept things competitive. Warren Sledge led the Citadel with 18 points with Quinton Marshall tossing in 15 points. PJ Boutte added 13 points and eleven helpers while Quayson Williams and Connor Schroeder combined for 19 points.
COFC are 6-21 ATS in their last 27 Saturday games and are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 road games while the under is 19-7 in COFC last 26 non-conference games. The over is 7-1 in the Citadel’s last 8 Saturday games and is 22-6 in their last 28 overall while going 20-6 in their last 26 home games. The road team is 13-6 ATS in the last 19 meetings. The Bulldogs have two wins against sub division squads and their schedule has been week so I’m not sold on them and I’m not sold on the Cougars laying road chalk either…
