The Montana State Bobcats welcome the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks to town Sunday.
The Nebraska Omaha Mavericks have played some better teams very competitively but have not beaten anyone of consequence. The Mavericks are coming off of an 80-73 loss to Eastern Michigan where they fell behind by 17 at the half and were never able to comeback. The Eagles sank shots at 39% and the Mavericks hit at 37% with four more bombs making a big difference. Tre’Shawn Thurman carried the Mavericks attack with a contest high 25 points and eleven boards while Devin Patterson scored 16 points. Jake White followed with 14 points and 12 rebounds but nobody else stepped up.

The Montana State Bobcats are difficult to nail down until we have seen more of them and then we probably still won’t know enough. The Bobcats look to build on a 76-72 win at Utah Valley on Tuesday. MSU shot the ball well at over 46% and limited the Wolverines to 35.5% but UVU stayed in this game because they hit six more threes and eight more free throws. Montana State was saved by Tyler Hall and his 25 point, ten rebound effort while Zach Green and Quinton Everett netting 15 points apiece and a combined eleven boards. Marcus Colbert and Sarp Gobeloglu rounded out the top contributors with 17 points between them.
I don’t think there are any trends that mean anything in this match up. Both are picked to finish at the bottom of their respective conferences so all I can go on is the Mavericks have played a better schedule which I also said when they faced Eastern Michigan and that was a mistake…
