The Creighton Bluejays snapped a two game losing streak and improved to 6-3 (0-0 Big East) on the season after defeating the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 83-67, this past Wednesday. The Bluejays got out to a fast start taking a 21-7 lead early in the game and never looked back Creighton continued their dominance against the Cornhuskers. Creighton shot 51.9% from the field and 35.3% (6-17) from beyond the arc in the victory. The Bluejays held the Cornhuskers to 39.7% shooting from the field and 19.0% shooting from three-point range. Leading the way for Creighton was Isaiah Zierden who had 17 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. On the season, the Blue Jays have been led by Maurice Watson Jr. (12.1 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 5.8 apg), Geoffrey Groselle (11.4 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 1.7 bpg), and Isaiah Zierden (11.4 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.2 apg, 2.0 spg). The Bluejays have a rebound margin of 3.2 and a turnover margin of 2.7.
The Jaguars are 5-1 ATS In their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record however, just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following an ATS loss. The Bluejays are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 home games and 11-4-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall.
IUPUI might be just 3-8 on the season, but head coach Jason Gardner does have the program that has been consistently in the bottom of the Summit league headed in the right direction. Creighton struggled defensively last year and although defense is still the weak area of this year’s team, the Blue Jays have been outstanding offensively. IUPUI will put up a fight in this one early but their lack of offense and turnovers will get them into trouble against the Bluejays and I think Creighton puts up a big number offensively in this one to cover this large spread. Take Creighton to cover.
