The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks go on the road to tangle with the Penn State Nittany Lions.
The Louisiana- Monroe Warhawks have the ability to score and defend but need to do both consistently as I don’t think either end of the floor can win on their lonesome. Neither were strong in a 73-62 defeat at Kent State on Thursday night with the Golden Flashes pulling away late. Both teams sank shots at around 40% but this game was won at the charity stripe where Kent State led 23-9. UL Monroe saw Jamaal Samuel toss in a game high 18 points and grab seven boards followed by a 15 point, six assist effort from Nick Coppola. DeMondre Harvey netted ten points while Justin Roberson chipped in with nine points

The Penn State Nittany Lions are not even a consideration when talking about the top teams in the Big Ten. We probably still have no clue where this team stands in the conference but the Nittany Lions are still a solid 6-3 after an 81-67 victory versus visiting Canisius on Thursday. This was never close with PSU up 15 at the break before trading baskets over the final 20 minutes. The Golden Griffins were held to less then 34% from the floor while Penn State fired away at 56% marksmanship. Brandon Taylor led the attack with 18 points and six pulls while Julian Moore tossed in 14 points. Shep Garner and Payton Banks netted eleven points apiece with Banks snagging seven rebounds.
I don’t have a real good feel for Louisiana-Monroe because I thought I would see a little stronger start to the season from them. I don’t think Penn State is much more then a team fighting to stay in the middle of the Big Ten rankings but I am thinking about them here…
