The Washington State Cougars play host to the UTEP Miners in Sunday evening action.
The UTEP Miners are looking for a much needed win at Washington State after losing two straight after beginning the season at 6-0. The Miners come off of a 76-62 defeat to Texas where they just seemed out of sorts. Both squads sank shots in the 44%-45% range but the Miners were just 5-23 from long range and were much more effective closer to the basket. Terry Winn led the attack with 14 points and eight rebounds followed by Earvin Morris Jr. with 13 points. Lee Moore added 12 points and five pulls while Dominic Artis chipped in with nine points. The bottom line was too many players saw significant time and did not contribute.

The Washington State Cougars are not given much thought in the PAC 12 as many have them finishing near the bottom of the conference. The Cougars have dropped two of three after losing 78-74 at Idaho as an eight point favorite. The Vandals led by seven at the break and didn’t give in despite WSU holding a 53%-44% edge in marksmanship. The Cougars lost because the Vandals managed ten more looks with a few more threes and a handful more free throws. Joe Hawkinson paced the scoring with 16 points and 12 rebounds with Ike Iroegbu and Conor Clifford tossing in 12 points apiece. Renard Suggs and Charles Callison combined for 21 points but a winnable game was lost with WSU getting no offensive rebounds.
UTEP are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 road games and the under is 14-4 in their last 18 non-conference games while the Miners are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 Sunday games. The over is 6-2 in Washington State’s last 8 Sunday games and is 8-3 in their last 11 non-conference games while the Cougars are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall. If the Miners play has capable then the points are the way to go…
