The Oregon Ducks dropped to 7-2 (0-0 Pac-12) on the season after being defeated by the Boise State Broncos, 74-72, this past Saturday. Oregon, who was without one of their leading scorers in Tyler Dorsey, fought back from a 67-50 deficit however, Dillion Brooks couldn’t get his shot to fall as time expired to force OT. Oregon shot 43.1% from the field and 42.9% (9-21) from beyond the arc. The Ducks allowed Boise State to shot 42.6% from the field and 37.9% (11-29) three-point range. Leading the way for Oregon was Dillion Brooks who had 26 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks. On the season, the Ducks have been led by Dillion Brooks (15.3 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.7 apg), Tyler Dorsey (14.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.9 apg), and Elgin Cook (12.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.8 spg). Offensively, Oregon averages 75.7 ppg on 45.4% shooting from the field and 31.8% from three-point range. The Ducks average 6.3 three-pointers per game and has an assist/turnover ratio of 1.01. Defensively, Oregon is holding opponents to an average of 65.2 ppg on 38.8% shooting. The Ducks have a rebound margin of 1.3 and a turnover margin of 2.6.
The Anteaters are 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record however, just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games. The Ducks are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up loss and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 home games.
The UC Irvine Anteaters are one of the mid-major teams that no one will want to face this season as this is a talented team that should be back in the NCAA Tournament this season led by 7’6’’ center, Mamadou Ndiaye and Luke Nelson. Oregon had a nice start to their season but have struggled as of late losing two of their last three games and will be hoping that Tyler Dorsey will be able to give it go after missing the last two games with a strained knee. Matthew Knight Arena is a very tough place to play and although UC Irvine is a very good team, I think Tyler Dorsey will be able to give it a go tomorrow night and that Oregon covers this home spread. Make sure that Dorsey is playing but if he is, I’m taking Oregon to cover.
