The Tulane Green Wave face big odds when they visit the #3 North Carolina Tar Heels Wednesday.
The Tulane Green Wave look like a team that needs both their scoring and defense on the same page to be successful but that didn’t happen in a 76-68 loss to Georgia Tech which snapped a three game winning streak. Both squads sank shots in the 45% range but the Green Wave turned the ball over 16 times which helped the Yellow Jackets to eleven more looks which added up to four more baskets which was decisive. Louis Dabney led Tulane with 15 points and seven boards with Malik Morgan tossing in 14 points while six players added between 5-7 points. The offense was balanced but not explosive.

The North Carolina Tar Heels have one of the bigger offense in the game but it wasn’t enough to avoid an 84-82 last second loss to Texas as a 6.5 point favorite on Saturday. The Tar Heels fired away at 52% and the Longhorns responded with 47% but were 12-24 from beyond the arc and had 12 more looks at the basket thanks to 14 offensive rebounds. Marcus Paige paced the North Carolina attack with 20 points with Justin Jackson tossing in 15 points with the duo going 10-19 from the field. Brice Johnson and Isaiah Hicks netting 14 points apiece and eight pulls. Joel Barry chipped in with eight points but Texas had too many second chance looks.
The under is 21-7 in Tulane’s last 28 non-conference games and is 37-16 in their last 53 overall. Obviously North Carolina should win and could easily cover but if you have watched this team under Roy Williams in past years they aren’t always focused and their defense stinks at times…
