It’s Eagles against Eagles when Morehead State visits Eastern Washington Thursday night.
The question many are asking is whether the Morehead State Eagles are a threat in the Ohio Valley with decent scoring and defense behind them. Neither end of the floor was ‘decent’ in a 92-59 loss to Indiana that ended a four game winning streak. The Hoosiers jumped to a 24 point lead after 20 minutes and continued to press the issue with 56.6% shooting leading to 14 more field goals versus the 31% accuracy of the Eagles who also gave the ball away 21 times. Lyonell Gaines was the Eagles lone DD scorer with 13 points with Corban Collins, Miguel Dicent and Xavier Moon netting eight points apiece. Very little explosiveness on offense and no stopping power on defense describes this effort.

The Eastern Washington Eagles are looking to build up some momentum and have been lately with wins in three of four. EWU is coming off of a 104-64 victory versus visiting sub division Great Falls with the Argos connecting at 43.6% from the floor while the Eagles burned the nets at 53% with 17 long balls and nine more free throws while forcing 13 turnovers which led to nine more looks. Cody Benzel tossing in a game high 23 points with Bogdan Bliznyuk adding 13 points and seven pulls. Sir Washington tossed in 15 points and snared nine boards while Bear Henderson, Will Ferris and Kyle Reid each scored ten points.
Morehead State are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 road games and are 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall. The over is 9-3 in Eastern Washington’s last 12 non-conference games and is 13-6 in their last 19 home games while going 45-21 in their last 66 overall. I think Morehead State is far better then we saw versus Ohio State and need to prove it…
