The Monmouth Hawks look to stay hot when they visit the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
The Monmouth Hawks have been playing well at both ends of the floor leading to a nice 7-3 start. The Hawks have won three in a row following a surprising 83-68 win at Georgetown as a ten point underdog. Monmouth led by 12 at the break and never let the Hoyas make a run. Georgetown never got their offense going on less then 33% while the Hawks hit at 42% with a 10-20 mark on threes and sank ten more free throws. Je’lon Hornbeak led five DD scorers with 18 points and five yanks with Collin Stewart, Micah Seaborn and Deon Jones netting 13 points apiece with Jones grabbing ten boards. Justin Robinson added 12 points as the Hawks had more then enough options.
USA TODAY Sports
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights have been struggling to get production from both ends of the floor and it has cost them after a solid start. The Scarlet Knights have dropped five of six after an 83-49 defeat at George Washington. The Colonials took a 16 point lead in to the locker room and kept their foot on the gas until the final horn. GW held a 43%-34% shooting advantage and forced 22 turnovers to total 17 more shots which was the game in a nutshell. The Scarlet Knights received 12points and six boards from Bishop Daniels with Mike Williams scoring eleven points. The Scarlet Knights simply didn’t have enough scoring options to be competitive.
The over is 6-2 in Monmouth’s last 8 road games. Rutgers are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games and are 5-14 ATS in their last 19 games overall while going 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Sunday games. Monmouth is better then most believe and I’ll back them…
