The Missouri State Bears face conference rival the Illinois State Redbirds on Wednesday.
The Missouri State Bears have two problems; not enough scoring and not enough defense which explains their record. The Bears have won two of three after a surprising 64-63 upset of Oklahoma State as a 13 point underdog. MSU led 32-20 at the half and barely held on as the Cowboys held a slight 42.6%-41.7% shooting advantage which meant the Bears sank a few more baskets and OSU made a few more free throws. Dequon Miller led all scorers with 21 points on 8-16 from the field with Camyn Boone adding 17 points and nine rebounds. Chris Kendrix was next in line with ten points and nine boards with the rest of the team combining for 16 points.

The Illinois State Redbirds have much the same issues as their counterparts in that they have issues at both ends of the floor. The Redbirds have dropped four of five after a 74-61 defeat at the hands of Alabama-Birmingham where a 46-32 second half run from the Blazers broke open a close contest. The bottom line was UAB sank half their looks and which equaled six more baskets against the 36% shooting Redbirds who were just 5-32 from long range. DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell was Illinois State’s lone double digit scorer with 18 points and eight rebounds while MiKyle Mcintosh and Nick Banyard each scored nine points and combined for eleven rebounds.
The under is 10-3 in Missouri State last 13 Wednesday games and the under is 21-7 in their last 28 vs. Missouri Valley while going 13-5 in their last 18 road games. The under is 51-22-1 in Illinois State last 74 home games. This is another game were neither team has an identity yet so I will likely sit and watch this…
