The James Madison Dukes will travel to the Bob Carpenter Center to take on the Delaware Blue Hens this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.
The James Madison Dukes had their eight game winning streak snapped and dropped to 10-4 (0-1 CAA) on the season after being defeated by Charleston Cougars, 65-62, this past Thursday. James Madison had a chance to tie it late but Ron Curry missed a key FT and Shakir Brown couldn’t get a three-pointer to fall in the closing seconds to send the game to OT. The Delaware Blue Hens lost their 4th straight game and dropped to 5-7 (0-1 CAA) on the season after being defeated by the Hofstra Pride 90-80, this past Thursday. Delaware played the CAA conference favorites tough but struggled defensively and allowed the Pride to pull away with a 10-2 run midway through the 2nd half. Delaware shot 44.9% from the field and 38.9% (7-18) from beyond the arc in the loss. The Blue Hens allowed the Pride to shoot 48.5% from the field and 42.4% (14-33) form three-point range. Leading the way for Delaware was Marvin King-Davis who had a double-double with 19 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and a block. On the season, the Blue Hens have been led by Kory Holden (17.4 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 4.3 apg), Cazmon Hayes (14.5 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.3 spg), and Marvin King-Davis (13.8 ppg, 9.1 rpg). The Blue Hens have a rebound margin of 5.7 and a turnover margin of -3.3.
The Dukes are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games following three or more consecutive home games and 11-3 ATS in their last 14 road games. The Blue Hens are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. CAA opponents and 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 games following a straight up loss.
James Madison has one of the best players in the CAA in Ron Curry and has been great on the offensive as they rank in the top 40 in both three-pointers per game and 3P FG%. Delaware is an improving team but they are still young and have really struggled on the defensive end as over their last three games the Blue Hens are giving up an average of 89 ppg. James Madison can’t be happy dropping their CAA opener and I think they’ll come out firing on all cylinders to cover this small road spread on the road. Take James Madison to cover.
