The Florida Atlantic Owls face rival the Florida International Golden Panthers Sunday.
The Florida Atlantic Owls have had a difficult time putting up points and their defense hasn’t been able to carry the load. The Owls are in the midst of a six game slide following a 57-48 loss to visiting Tennessee-Martin on Tuesday. The defense played well enough by limiting the Skyhawks to 38% from the floor but FAU could not take advantage with just 32% shooting. Florida Atlantic leaned on Adonis Filer who scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Jeantal Cylia added 12 points and another nine boards. Ronald Delph chipped in with eight points and 12 rebounds but the rest of the team contributed eleven points.

The Florida International Golden Panthers are difficult to nail down as they bring a 6-7 record to the table against a weak schedule. The Golden Panthers had lost five straight before winning back to back contests capped off by a 65-45 rout of instate rival Florida A&M Tuesday where they took a nine point lead at the break and never let up. The Rattlers were held to less then 31% shooting while FIU countered with 46.6% including 9-23 from long range. Elmo Stephen paced the Golden Panthers with 18 points on 6-10 on threes with Adrian Diaz and Donte McGill added 13 and 12 points and five pulls apiece.
Florida Atlantic are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The under is 6-2 in Florida International last 8 Sunday games and the Golden Panthers are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 Sunday games. The Owls are 3-15 ATS in the last 18 meetings and the over is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings. A conference and instate rivalry where anything can happen and I’m still laying the points…
