The Missouri State Bears lost their 4th straight game and dropped to 4-10 (0-2 MVC) on the season after being defeated by the Evansville Purple Aces, 76-59, this past Saturday. Missouri State was able to hang around with Evansville in the 1st half as they only trailed by a 30-27 margin at halftime, however, they allowed the Purple Aces to go on a 20-0 run in the 2nd half to take complete control of the game. Missouri State shot just 37.5% from the field and 15.4% (2-13) from beyond the arc in the loss. The Panthers are 7-0-1 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up loss. The Bears are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games following a double-digit loss at home however, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
Northern Iowa has had an up and down season to date as although they have big wins against North Carolina and Iowa State, they’ve also suffered some tough losses against Richmond and Hawaii. Missouri State had a lot of roster turnover from last season’s 11-win team and has struggled this season finding ways to score the basketball. Missouri State plays better at home but Northern Iowa was able to beat them by double-digits in both matchups last season, and as the Panthers talent level is much higher than the Bears, I’m taking Northern Iowa to cover this mid-range spread on the road.
