The Cal Poly Mustangs are searching for some momentum as conference play is about to begin. The Mustangs have been in a funk with losses in five of seven after an 82-63 defeat at high powered Texas A&M as a 15.5 point underdog. CP trailed by 15 heading to the locker room and never recovered with less then 37% shooting while the Aggies connected at 49% which added up to nine more baskets. Cal Poly received 16 points from Reese Morgan on five bombs with Brian Bennett netting 13 points on 6-10 from the field. Ridge Shipley scored eleven while Daniel Nwaba added ten points, six boards and six helpers before fouling out.

The Hawaii Warriors are looking like a team that might have something to say in the Big West with their big offense backing them up. The Warriors seven of eight after pounding Howard 94-59 for victory number three in a row. UH was up 14 after 20 minutes and never took their foot off the gas pedal. The Bison were limited to 30% from the floor and committed 19 turnovers while the Warriors countered with 44% and 17 offensive rebounds to total 18 more shots to win easily. Aaron Valdes was the Warriors offensive star with 16 points, 15 rebounds and eleven assists with Roderick Bobbitt pouring in a game high 31 points. Quincy Smith followed with 15 points with Stefan Jovanovic chipping in with nine.
