The UC Riverside Highlanders have been called a ‘sleeper’ in the Big West and with conference play ready to get hot and heavy we will know if that is true soon enough. The Highlanders appeared to be in a groove with four consecutive victories before suffering consecutive defeats. The Highlanders look to bounce back from a 67-48 loss to visiting Cal State-Bakersfield. The Roadrunners were up 14 after 20 minutes and were not threatened with UCR held to 34%from the floor and 12-25 from the line. CSB countered with 45% accuracy which equaled 12 more baskets which was the game. Taylor Johns paced the Highlanders offense with 17 points and eight rebounds while Secean Johnson and Alex Larsson added 12 and nine points with 12 boards.
