The Milwaukee Panthers will travel to the Wolstein Center to take on the Cleveland State Vikings this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The Milwaukee Panthers won their 2nd straight game and improved to 11-5 (2-1 Horizon) on the season after defeating the Youngstown State Penguins, 81-65, this past Thursday. Milwaukee was outstanding in the first half, taking a 45-28 halftime lead, and never let the Penguins get close in the 2nd half. Milwaukee shot 50.0% from the field and outrebounded Youngstown State by a 37-24 margin in the victory. The Panthers allowed Youngstown State to shoot 42.3% from the field and 41.2% (7-17) from beyond the arc. Leading the way for Milwaukee was Akeem Springs who had a monster game with 33 points, 7 rebounds, and a steal. On the season, Milwaukee has been led by Matt Tiby (14.8 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 2.4 apg), Akeem Springs (14.7 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.6 apg), and Austin Arians (11.9 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.6 apg). Offensviely, Milwaukee is averaging 79.8 ppg on 46.0% shooting from the field and 36.2% shooting from beyond the arc. The Panthers average 9.0 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.52. Defensively, Milwaukee is allowing their opponents to average 71.3 ppg on 44.1% shooting. Cleveland State vs. Wisc-Milwaukee - 1/9/16 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Cleveland State Vikings lost their 3rd consecutive game and dropped to 5-11 (0-3 Horizon) on the season after being defeated by the Green Bay Phoenix, 87-67, this past Thursday. Cleveland State took an early 15-2 lead in the contest but ended up being down by a 41-30 margin at halftime and never made a strong run to get back into it in the 2nd half. Cleveland State shot 46.4% from the field but committed 23 turnovers in the loss. The Vikings had trouble on the defensive end as they allowed the Phoenix to shoot 51.7% from the field and 52.4% (11-21) from three-point range. Leading the way for Cleveland State was Vinny Zollo who had 13 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. On the season, the Vikings have been led by Rob Edwards (12.3 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.7 apg), Andre Yates (10.3 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 1.8 apg), and Demonte Flannigan (9.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.1 bpg). Offensively, Cleveland State is averaging 62.9 ppg on 40.4% shooting from the field and 31.0% shooting from beyond the arc. The Vikings average 5.7 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 0.75. Defensively, Cleveland State is holding their opponents to an average of 68.1 ppg on 45.5% shooting from the field. The Vikings average 7.6 steals per game and have a turnover margin of 0.9.

The Panthers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 vs. Horizon League opponents. The Vikings are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a double-digit loss at home and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games.

Milwaukee is once against eligible for post-season play and should be one of the better teams in the Horizon led by Matt Tiby and Akeem Springs. Cleveland State was expected to struggle a bit this year but it looks as if the Vikings could end up in the cellar of the Horizon League as the Vikings continue to find ways to score the ball. Cleveland State needs their defense to step up to stand a chance in this one, however, as Milwaukee’s offense is solid, I think they’ll be able to put up enough points on the struggling Vikings to cover this small road spread. Take Milwaukee to cover.
