The Wright State Raiders will travel to The Bank of Kentucky Center to take on the Northern Kentucky Norse this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.
The Wright State Raiders had their four game winning streak snapped and dropped to 7-8 (1-1 Horizon) on the season after being defeated by the Green Bay Phoenix, 76-68, this past Monday. Wright State was able to build a 45-35 lead at halftime, but struggled offensively in 2nd half putting up just 23 second-half points and couldn’t get enough defensive stops for the victory. Wright State shot 46.7% from the field and 28.6% (6-21) from beyond the arc. The Raiders allowed the Phoenix to shoot 45.0% (9-20) from beyond the arc and was outrebounded by Green Bay by a 42-34 margin. Leading the way for Wright State was JT Yoho who had a double-double with 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 assists. The Northern Kentucky Norse lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 4-9 (0-2 Horizon) on the season after being defeated by the Milwaukee Panthers, 76-67, this past Monday. Northern Kentucky held a 61-57 lead late in the game but struggled over the last five minutes and couldn’t hang on for the victory. Northern Kentucky struggled offensively as they shot just 37.5% from the field and 25.0% (5-20) from beyond the arc. The Norse allowed the Panthers to shoot 46.2% from the field and forced Milwaukee into committing 12 turnovers. Leading the way for Northern Kentucky was Lavone Holland II who had 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. On the season, the Norse have been led by Jalen Billups (13.5 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.8 bpg), Lavone Holland II (12.7 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 4.0 apg, 1.2 spg), and Tyler White (10.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 3.9 apg). Offensively, Northern Kentucky is averaging 70.9 ppg on 44.7% shooting from the field and 32.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Defensively, the Norse are allowing opponents to average 75.0 ppg on 43.8% shooting from the field and 35.6% shooting form beyond the arc.
The Raiders are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall and just 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record. The Norse are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up loss and 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games overall.
Wright State had a tough start to their season as they had to play a few tough teams in Kentucky and Xavier, however, has played much better as of late behind their solid defense. Northern Kentucky is in its first season in the Horizon and it could be a long season for the Norse as they currently only have two wins against D-I opponents this season. Northern Kentucky has a solid player in Jalen Billups however, I think they could struggle on the offensive end against the Wright State defense and as the Raiders have been competitive on the road against two of the better Horizon teams in Green Bay and Milwaukee, I think JT Yoho and Wright State can cover this small road spread. Take Wright State to cover.
