The Princeton Tigers open up Ivy League play with a visit to the Penn Quakers.
It seems the Ivy League is more closely associated with Harvard and Princeton although the experts have said the conference is more then two teams. The Tigers are trying to throw their name in the mix of challengers with a 9-4 record. The Tigers have won three of four after outscoring Norfolk State 83-74 on the road Tuesday as they took a nine point lead in to the half and made it hold up. Norfolk State shot the ball well enough at 48% but that couldn’t compete with Princeton’s 55% accuracy. Henry Carson led Princeton with 16 points followed by Devin Kennedy with 13 points. Spencer Weiscz and Myles Stephens combined for 21 points with eleven players scoring.

The Penn Quakers aren’t listed as team to beat in the Ivy League and their record says as much with numbers that are all over the map which makes this team difficult to predict. The Quakers are looking to build on an 80-45 rout of Binghamton that was over soon after the opening tip. The Bearcats were held to less then 25% shooting including a 2-18 mark from long range while Penn fired away at 48% which equaled 17 more baskets. Penn received 23 points and seven boards from Matt Howard with Jackson Donahue netting 17 points with 12 players finding the scoring column.
The under is 11-2 in Penn last 13home games and Princeton are 9-19 in the last 28 meetings. Penn has done very well in this match up but pulling the trigger on a team that gets blown out all too often is not for me…
