The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks look to put the brakes on the Idaho Vandals Thursday.
The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks lost some quality talent from a season ago and that is reflected in the win column. Neither end of the floor has had enough firepower in losing eight in a row before a 73-63 victory at Southern Utah as a five point road dog Saturday. The Lumberjacks led by seven after 20 minutes and held off the Thunderbirds the rest of the way. NAU won the shooting battle 44%-38% which added up to three more field goals and was decisive. Marcus DeBerry paced the Lumberjacks with 18 points with Kris Yanku adding 15 points and eleven rebounds. Corey Brown, Ako Kaluna and Felix Rivera-Vega each scored ten points with the latter grabbing eleven boards.

The Idaho Vandals are off to a better then expected 10-6 record behind a better then average defense that has allowed 65 points. The Vandals were on a roll with five consecutive victories before a 74-60 defeat at Eastern Washington slowed their roll. The Eagles ran out to a 16 point lead at the half and were never challenged with 53% shooting including a 15-29 performance from beyond the arc being far too much for the 31% shooting Vandals to compete with. Idaho received 18 points on 7-18 from Victor Sanders with the duo of Perrion Callandret and Nate Sherwood tossing in 12points each and combining for 13 rebounds. No player shot 50% and options were few.
Northern Arizona are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games overall and are 19-6-3 ATS in their last 28 vs. Big Sky while the under is 11-5 in their last 16 Thursday games. The under is 10-2 in Idaho last 12 overall and the Vandals are 14-5 ATS in their last 19 home games. I hate laying chalk here but going by the numbers…
