The Denver Pioneers go on the road to tangle with the Western Illinois Leathernecks.
The Denver Pioneers are in need of a prolonged winning streak to get above and stay above .500 to avoid too far behind in the Summit League standings. The Pioneers had a chance at consecutive victories go by the wayside in a 65-64 loss to a tough IUPU-Fort Wayne Saturday with the Mastodons making a seven point lead at the half barely hold up. The Mastodons sank half of their looks but gave the ball away 14 times to give the 43% shooting Pioneers eleven more shots and keep them competitive. Joe Rosga led all scorers with 20 points and five assists with Nate Engresser tossing in 15. Marcus Byrd netted 12 points and Thomas Neff chipping in with eight.

The Western Illinois Leathernecks are in the exact same boat as their counterparts in that wins are needed to keep from becoming an afterthought. The Leathernecks are mired in a six game slide following a 67-60 loss to visiting Indiana-Purdue as a six point favorite on Saturday. The Jaguars connected at 44% with a few more threes and free throws outdistancing the 37.5% shooting Leathernecks. Western Illinois received 16 points from Garret Covington but he was just 6-16 from the field with Jalen Chapman adding 13 points and ten rebounds. JC Fuller netted eleven points and Tate Stensgaard chipped in with nine points and five pulls.
The under is 9-1 in Denver last 10 vs. Summit and Denver are 2-13-1 ATS in their last 16 Thursday games while the under is 23-8 in their last 31 overall. The over is 14-6 in Western Illinois last 20 overall and is 9-4 in their last 13 vs. Summit while the under is 11-5 in their last 16 Thursday games. I don’t really have an edge to exploit except perhaps the points…
