The High Point Panthers take the hardwood at the Winthrop Eagles with supremacy in the Big South on the line.
The High Point Panthers could very well be the team to beat in the Big South but it’s much too early to make that claim. The 12-4 Panthers have won four straight after knocking off Presbyterian 82-66 on Saturday. HP jumped to an eleven point lead heading to the locker room and simply shot the ball then the Blue Hose at 62%-51% which resulted in seven more baskets. John Brown gave High Point 19 points and seven boards with Anthony Lindauer tossing in 13 points. Lorenzo Cugni was next in line with 12 points while Adam Weary and Tarique Thompson combined for another 19 points.

The Winthrop Eagles have the big offense to score with some of the big names in the Big South such as High Point but they tend to allow points as well. The Eagles snapped a three game skid in an 81-63 rout of sub division Ferrum that was never in doubt with a 23 point lead after 20 minutes. The Eagles fired away at 56% including a 9-18 performance from beyond the arc which was too much to handle for the 34.8% shooting Panthers. Jimmy Gavin poured in a game high 19 points on 7-9 with Keon Johnson, Zach Price and Josh Davenport each netting ten points and snaring ten boards.
High Point are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 vs. Big South and are 5-14 ATS in their last 19 games overall. The under is 12-5 in Winthrop last 17 vs. Big South and Winthrop are 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 home games while the under is 37-17 in their last 54 overall. The Panthers have not been a good cover team in the Big South so I’m bucking the odds…
